World Record Event to Benefit Make-A-Wish
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 10:54:31 PM

OnTrack Sport Center in Tarrytown is organizing and will be hosting a Guinness World Record attempt to break the longest indoor soccer game.  The present record is 30 hours and was set in Cyprus in 2005.  Team OnTrack, with more than 20 athletes from the local area and as far away as Panama, hope to set the new record with a 35 hour attempt kicking off at 7:30pm on Friday, October 24, 2008 and concluding on Sunday morning, October 26, 2008.  The event has been organized as a charity fundraiser and all net proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Hudson Valley, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The NY Red Bulls, the professional soccer team which runs an enormously popular Regional Development School at OnTrack, has already offered to participate.  “We have seen quite a bit of interest in breaking this record, but we still need a lot of help,” said Kevin Kaye, OnTrack’s General Manager.  “…volunteer players, monitors, referees… it’s a lot of work, but all very exciting.”

The event will get under way on Friday at 5:30pm with a Kick-Off Reception hosted by a key sponsor for the news media and special invited guests.  Another key sponsor hosted Victory Brunch is also planned for Sunday morning to celebrate and honor those who participated.  Mr. Kaye went on to say, “OnTrack is truly excited to be a part of this, and, at the same time, thrilled that we'll be able to help raise awareness and increase funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation - all in an effort to put some smiles on the faces of many deserving children in the area.”

To help support the world record attempt or to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kevin Kaye, General Manager of OnTrack at 914-909-2974 or via email KevinK@OnTrackSport.com.

Open League Champs - Yonkers United
Monday, January 21, 2008 8:22:52 PM

Defending champion Chop Squad couldn't hold on to their title as they fell to Yonkers United in the finals of the adult Open Soccer League.  Both teams matched up quite evenly and it was a fierce battle right from the start, but the newcomer seemed to want it just a little bit more.  "We just wanted to put them under as much pressure as possible so they couldn't set up", said Yonkers United's Danny Cadena, who lives in Tarrytown.  JP Imbragno, Yonkers' Captain, was all smiles as that pressure has earned his team the championship and a chance to defend that title in the next league session due to start on January 24th.
